I really don't like to do this for the 3rd time this year. I lost Dougal Yesterday Morning at 5am.
He has been unwell for the last couple of months. He was suffering bad with respiratory problems and was in and out of the vets over that time. He was spritely enough before we went to bed and My Boyfriend heard him drop out of the cage and got up to see was he okay and he could barely breathe. He woke me and there was no answer from the emergency vet and I tried everything to revive him but he died soon after. At least he's free and no longer in Pain as the specialist in Bray's exotic pet specialist described his condition as (all he is thinking is breathe in, breathe out, that's his main objective when he was like this) When he went in the last time he came on with leaps and bounds and I was convinced he was over it. Obviously I was wrong. My poor wee man. He was the sweetest, softers, cuddliest rat Love As horrible as this is it will be a long time before I have rats again as this year was just horrible ratwise. I will miss my little guys but I just do not think I could go through losing any again.

I'm so sorry Sad he was lovely - and I know how hard losing them can be... I understand your decision, but you would be much missed as a rat owner <3 so hopefully at some stage you'll feel strong enough to own them again.

xx
