Bathing rats Empty Bathing rats

Post by bikerwitch Sat Feb 04, 2012 1:46 am

Hi guys i came across this very cute video of a rat being bathed. anyways in the video the person has soap in the basin and said its ok to do it once its not to often. I was always told never to bath them in soapy water as its bad for their skin. i was wondering could u help me clarify this?
here is the video Smile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFdSZBdpINw&lc=BtXalFpdlOxFgBCP2lgJBEuN2q4BnboXPJQFItOUWCo&feature=inbox

I really don't know, but I'd err on the side of caution and not use it myself.

I have bathed mine before, but only when they really stink. My boys are 2.5 & i've only bathed them twice, so if you feel the need, they don't need it much. Really they should be fine without any baths.
If you're going to use soap, use a rat-friendly one.

I use clean water and a rat/ferret shampoo.

I use clean warm water and small animal shampoo suitable for rats. And although I don't bath mine very often, they love a bubble bath. Never done mine any harm! :-)
