Chicken bones?
Is it safe for rats to eat chicken bones? My dad would often throw in bones left over from making dinner but it just struck me that maybe it wasn't the best idea because I think dogs cant

Re: Chicken bones?
I've been told chicken bones are safe for ratties because they tend to chew things well. I gave mine some the other day.
Most of the problem with dogs is them not chewing them fine enough and choking/getting slinters.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong though.

Raw or cooked chicken bones are grand
they grind their food down so no chance of a cooked poultry bone splintering in their digestive system, which can happen with dogs.

As Grace said - not only safe, but an excellent source of protein and calcium!
