Betty's Ear Infection Empty Betty's Ear Infection

Post by GillianK Fri Jan 18, 2013 5:27 am

Betty is on her 5th day of treatment with baytril and calpol and still walking with head tilt. Her balance badly affected as she walks with her head tilted so and she has fallen off shelf in cage a few times. Any advice on how else to get rid of this ear infection?

I would think about doing the Baytril for another few days, and then if still no improvement, use a different drug, such as Synulox. I've never found Baytril particularly good for ear infections. Also, be aware that the head tilt may never go, they are often (I would say even in most cases) left with a head tilt after the infection has cleared.

Laura, you are right. I only used baytril for about 4 days and then stopped, and since then shes been fine, but has a permanent head tilt. It does affect her balance but she seems otherwise healthy!
