Rabbits. Having more than one apparently bad (according to pet shop)? Empty Rabbits. Having more than one apparently bad (according to pet shop)?

My sister has a pet rabbit, but only one. I suggested getting a second one, and apparently she asked in the pet shop for two, but was told that "they don't do well together. One will always be dominant, and the other will live in misery because of this". Confused

Now, I don't know rabbits very well, but to me this sounds like a load of horse.....Wink

Can anyone please confirm that I am right? Or that the pet shop is right, if that is in fact true?

I've heard of people going into pet shops with reams of info for them on how to correctly look after a specific animal, so if I am right, and you know of a link that shows evidence of this - I would love to print it out and shove it at them.  Laugh

the best way to keep rabbits is a neutered male and a female. And yes you're right, rabbits need company Wink

Thanks JinX!

What about two males? Or two females?

She was also recommended to get a guinea pig as company? Out of the question? Or a sensible idea?

be prepared for 2 cages though, alot of petshops have a no returns policy. maybe try a good rabbit breeder, they are usually more sympathic if a pairing doesnt work out.

Oh my God! Can't believe a petshop would have this policy! Horrifying Sad I can imagine hundreds of idiots buy this crap without questioning. Poor bunnies.
