The first BF litter of 2012 - Bongo Fury Don Van Vliet x Atlas Roda <3

Just wanted to announce the birth of Don and Roda's litter There are 14 babies, there were 15 but one looks like it was dead at birth. The other 14 are mostly OK, with one looking much weaker than the rest. I hope that one pulls through, but I'm not overly sure that he/she will. Not taking photos for a while, as it was obviously not the easiest of births, so want to leave Roda alone as much as possible with her new family.

Can't wait to show you them all though, and see how they develop <3

Great to hear about a new litter, new life always means renewed hope for the future, but so sad and hard to read about the losses. Hopefully all will be well with mum and the babies. I hope all are doing fine now, and will grow stronger and stronger. Nature does have her own ways of coping which we sometimes find difficult to accept and understand. One thing they will never be at a loss for is tender loving care and attention, from you Laura and Karl, Steve

Down to 10 babies now I don't know why, they seem really fit and OK... perhaps Roda isn't comfortable with us - she has only been here a short while really. Please don't ask for photos, I think I won't even be checking on them for a few days, let alone taking pics. Probably no pics until they are wandering around out of the nest - say at about 2 weeks old.

Well - yesterday we had 8 as well... I've tried to check this morning, but she was on the nest, so I left her alone. Will try to check this afternoon to see if there are still 8. I hope she leaves at least 2 girls - I have someone on my list who's desperate for a pair for company for an older girl

Hope the babies are doing well Laura, it must be gutting to go out each day to find another gone, nature has its ways, and sometimes nature knows better, which we sometimes, find hard to accept and understand. Keeping mum and babies and you and Karl in my thoughts at this anxious time. Steve

Still 8 this evening! I am fairly happy that she's stopped culling them now... so might try and get photos later if she's happy enough.

Also have a rather pregnant Daffy too - but she's not due for a wee while! Fingers crossed, I have someone who had rats from us *yeeeears* ago, who lives in Wales and wants more from us. She's been waiting for *ages* but we've not had anything and been able to get over. Sooo, hoping Daffy works out this try, because her babies will be ready for Cardiff show!
