DJF - Well i'm not to sure yet because we might be moving house and if we are it could be about 3 weeks but I might get them sooner

Zounds - Thank you,I would love to get to know you to! A lady in ''Maxi Zoo XXL'' in Clonmel told me she got her past rats from you and she told me about this website as well   I'm thinking of getting them from a pet store because they are really healthy looking and the people there are friendly but I would of preferred to get the little fellows from a breeder or  rescue center but I couldn't find any

I would definatly recommend getting them from Laura or a rescue over a petshop,you might have to wait a bit longer but its worth it to know that you're not encouraging petshops.I know its hard to wait,im the least patient person i know  They might seem healthy from that petshop,but even if they are-its where petshops source them that i wouldnt want to fund/encourage..

I cant find any rescues in my area who have 4 baby,girl rats and is Laura the owner of ''Bongo Furry Rattery''?    Ha ha i'm a very impatient as well,its sure hard to wait but it would be defiantly worth waiting if I could find ones from a rescue or breeder! Where do pet stores get their rats from?

Yep thats Laura and Karl-you should check out their website  oh its really sad,pretty much *all* pet shops source them from a big rodent farm in the UK (no matter what the staff say!sometimes theyl say otherwise because theyve been lied to themselves)Maybe someone could post a link to info?The conditions are just heartbreaking  Other than that,its a few back yard breeder types as no reputable breeder would sell to a petshop really.

I didnt know either when i first looked into rats  but the good news is there are other options  

No you never would know what pet stores do   But like you said there are other options! I'm just going to keep looking around and hope I can find a good breeder or someone giving away babies etc..

You should come to the show and meet some ratty people and their lovely rats it can be a good way to get to know people,who might be able to help you out on your quest for ratties  

That's a really great idea but I'm not sure if I could go to a show as we have been a bit busy because we are moving house.   Do you know when its on and where?  

15th Dec-in Lauras house in Ballinascarthy,we're hoping to sort lifts out for people who can make it to Cork but not any further  

Sounds fun but I doubt I can make it but i'll write the details down anyway! Even if I cant there will be more in the future to look forward to! 

Would be lovely if you could come down, but you're always welcome for a visit anyway to meet the rats and see how we do things

Thank you that's so kind   Well at the moment we are living in Clonmel but i'm in my last year of school so soon i'll be heading to college and it could be in Cork. So if we move there I would love to visit and maybe I could check out some shows because a lot of people with rats seem to be in cork! Oh thanks for the link i'll check that out
