Teabag substrate!?
I saw the oddest thing in Poundstretchers (They have a pet hut attached) this afternoon - literally teabags (bags minus the tea) bundled into a bale, for sale at 6:99.
I reckon this would be a cosy bedding, but for a substrate wouldn't be very absorb much, leading to more regular cage changes.
Anyone used this? Any ideas?

I have heard that they are quite good, but I've never had any experience of them.

Not yet - but planning a multi-cage clean out tomorrow, and planning to pick up a bale on the way home from my night shift. I'm not confident about the absorbancy value, especially for my larger groups, but it might work out well for Dobbie - my hairless in a group of 3.
I'll try on the large and small groups and I'll update in a few days.
I'd be interested to see if this has popped up anywhere else in Ireland?

£6.99 (Sterling) for a bale, that stands either 2 or 3 foot high (need to see it again)
I am horrendous at working out the exchange rate (shouldn't really be, I drive alongside the border to get to work, and buy my diesel in the south), - cleverer people may well improve on this, but in Euro it should only be a Euro either side of the 6.99 mark

Re: Teabag substrate!?
I have been testing out the teabag bale.
I am rather surprised, thought it would be thin, with poor absorbancy.
Its very tightly packed into the bale, its thick and soft and feels lovely. Absorbancy is good, and I don't need to clean out any more often then usual. Its amazing for my hairless rat, and works well for my hairy groups.
Very pleased!!
