Northern Ireland rat meet?
So I was wondering if anyone would be interested in an NI rat meet.
I have no ideas of where or when, just testing for anyone interested out there.
I know we're all probably quite spread out, but maybe there's somewhere central we could meet, or someone central who's willing to have us round for an hour or two.
If interested please state location, how far you are able/willing to travel to meet and roughly how available you are, ie. do you usually work 9-5 mon-fri.
I'm in Newtownards.
I can travel about an hour in the car, or can get buses/trains if it's going to be further than that.
I'm a student so i've got exams until mid Jan, free for two weeks, then only available some evenings or Fri-Sun. daytime until April, then off 3 weeks and repeat.

I'd definitely be up for that! What's involved in Rat Meet? Is it a socialisation or ... ?
I'm in Eglinton, just outside of Derry. I have my car, and can travel pretty much anywhere in NI. Willing to travel ROI as well.

Well if it was in someone's house we could maybe bring rats, but i'm not sure on introing them to each other, in case of transmitting anything.. But people could definately meet up to discuss rats, or just to enjoy being in the company of like-minded people.

I'd love to come... bit far sadly... this reminds me though... must start a southern thread... sadly no-one ever comes to them except the usual suspects - as like NI it's too far for everyone!

I'd go to a southern one if it was dublin!

I am familiar with Belfast and most of Co Down and I can drive (go me)
I wouldn't mind meeting rat fanatics!

I'm up for this! Unless it already happened?!
I live in Belfast, I don't drive but could get bus/train. My availability varies but evenings work best for me.

Did this ever happen? o:
I'd totally be up for it if it was going to become a regular thing, once I got to know people a bit more.

Re: Northern Ireland rat meet?
I never seemed to realise that people other than myself and Gillian were interested!
So, if people are still interested maybe we could arrange a meet up, even without rats at first, unless someone has a house we can go to..
We could maybe all go for coffee or something in Belfast, as that seems like a bit of a consensus?
Or, if anyone has any other ideas?

Re: Northern Ireland rat meet?
Belfast tends to be a good central point for things like this. There's a nice little cafe near the City Hall called The Cupcake Cafe. As you can imagine it does cupcakes and things. Lol. Its kinda small, but I assume it would be okay for a small gathering like this since there doesn't seem to be many of us. A public place may be preferable for the first meet up few meets, so people can get to know each other etc.

Re: Northern Ireland rat meet?
I agree a public place and something neutral like getting coffee and buns, so there's no pressure.
I know where you mean.

Re: Northern Ireland rat meet?
I'd be up for it certainly, with or without ratties. :-) With could be more fun but yep, we'd need a house. Don't think The Cupcake Cafe would be thrilled if we all showed up with a rat each!

Yeah, but I would love to see what they'd make of it if we did.

Re: Northern Ireland rat meet?
I think perhaps minus rats would be best! ;D
We need to have a major Cork gathering too... but I want you lot to come to it! Almost starting to wish I lived further north!

Awwh, but I'd love to meet some Bongo Fury rats some day! I remember trying to find some NI rat breeders but yours was the only Ireland based rattery I could find. Your ratties are amazingly lovely!
Don't think I could persuade my dad to take me to cork to get ratties though.

Well, maybe one day! Or we can perhaps meet up halfway if it's do-able

Re: Northern Ireland rat meet?
Well, after the trouble we're having with Sybil he'll agree getting them from a breeder is best!

Re: Northern Ireland rat meet?
Yeah, it sucks you're so far away ): if a dublin meet is still on the cards but i'm sure a good few of us can manage that. Plus, the journey would be worth it for some silly cutey bongos
Ps. Laura gary & blue are going home tomorrow ): can't believe it's been a month & i'll have no more bongo boys ):

Re: Northern Ireland rat meet?
Only seeing this thread now. I was talking to Redrach about a meet in Belfast. I'm happy to meet anywhere around the country. I have no problem travelling the distance as I do a lot of driving anyway
