Forz's Abscess
Forz's abscess has become really bad over the last two days. It's suddenly gone from a tiny lump to this massive thing I really don't know what to do for the best. My instinct is to get him straight down the vets but I know Laura said antibiotics don't shift them and he had such a terrible time with the last course I don't want to put him through that pointlessly. Is there anything I can do for him???

I really don't think there's much you can do but lance it Katherine I just wish I could see him and see how he is, and see if I can make a better judgment call.

If it was the cat I wouldn't hesitate. Will he need to go under to have it lanced? I'll book him in for tomorrow afternoon

Not sure, it'll depend on your vet. I replied on Facebook, but perhaps it didn't tell you. Let us know how he gets on...

Good luck to you both if he is getting it lanced, regardless in fact.
Thinking of you both. Poor little guy.

Thank you all for your kind words... Oh dear Francois
He's ok today, was sleeping with the others when I left for work. They've cut a triangle of skin away from his cheek and I have to bathe it, keep the wound open and he's back on the seprin, so I wont be his favourite person in the world

Re: Forz's Abscess
Abcsess is all gone and the hole they've left is drying up nicely, but I am worried about him poor thing. He's become very clingy in a way that Algy never was - I'm sure it's linked in to the illness but I don't recognise the symptom at all. He's only really keen on food that I give to him by hand at the moment, even if I take it out of the bowl... even if there's no one else at the bowl, and just wants to be out and on my shoulder the whole time.
Anyone else have experience of this? He always has been a real cuddler but it seems rather extreme

Re: Forz's Abscess
I have had some older rats get like that... there's not much you can do but indulge them and do your best to slowly wean them off it...
Give him a cuddle from me, missing him <3
