Why not use Pet Shops?

I posted a while ago about two female tailess rats in my local petmania store, they had been there since January. I actually found out recently that they were sent back to the rodent farm because they weren't selling. Quite upset about this, knowing that they're most likely snake food now. Poor babies

It is hard not to go down the petshop route, but looking at those pictures we can know we're at least not funding that business. We cannot save them all, but in the very long run we may be able to stop it happening.

Absolutely. This article has always been very dear to me... I saw it when it was first written, and when Ali (Brecklagh) and Estelle (Alpha Centauri) put it on their sites. Just awful.

Its just so sad it can be hard to think of the bigger picture,but so very important if we are rattie /animal lovers

It is an excellent article, with some really shocking and sad pictures I think it's what made up my mind 100% to go to a breeder (though that was a little while ago so I'm not certain)

There's two hairless boys in the petstore too, both look miserable.. they're behind glass, on dusty woodchip bedding, with one cardboard tunnel. I have to be honest and say I was considering buying them after hearing about the tailess girls, but after reading the article I've decided 100% against it. Really hope they don't end up as snake food though

They may not, they may go back to the 'farm' they came from to breed more snake food out of!
