Escapee....... Empty Escapee.......

Post by Abdou Mon Dec 24, 2012 9:50 am

One of our girls decided whilst free ranging that she would get on to the bars of the cage.......What we didn't expect was that she would climb down instead of up!!!!

She ended up on the floor under the bed :-(

Fortunately, I have been making the same sound each time I give them food, kept making this sound and eventually she came out in to some pipes that they play in....

I'm not the better of the experience and decided that a Baileys on ice was in order Laugh Laugh

The rat on the other hand was quite unfazed by the whole experience!!!

Eeeek!!!! Which girl was it? I've never had a proper escapee myself, though there have been a few odd incidents of rats getting out - for example Jemi, when I was away would let herself out (her cagemate Dawn would always stay in the cage), and come and sit on my mum's foot whenever she went in to feed them - until mum wired the cage shut after it happened 2 or 3 times!

ah, that brings me back Smile

It reminds me of one of my boys, years ago; Gowron. He decided to do some extended explorations of the house and ran through my legs into the hallway (I was holding platters of food). By the time I realised what was going on, he made it upstairs and an avid search in the 3 bedrooms (one was converted to my herbal medicine workshop) led to no avail.

I ended up putting out food and water all over the house until I found him 2 days later, having made a nest in a bag of California sage. He did smell very nice Laugh

He always loved herbs and greenery, here he is after helping himself to some nest material and leaving me to explain to my girlfriend at the time what had happened to her favourite plant.. Gowron happened... Laugh (they never got along after that and I had to put the girlfriend up for adoption....)
