Re: Sara's Rats Past & Present. <3
Oh no, I know they also farm for snake food. I just mean that more will go to that instead of being kept alive for pets. And I don't mean always continue buying from pet shops. Of course if I came across a rescue (I did look online) or I was able to get one from a good breeder (As there are a few breeds I'd love to have) then I would go for that if it was possible. Just at this time I didn't feel it was because of the situation I'm in.
Anyways, I don't/didn't wanna argue. I just wanted to show my new girls. I understand yous don't agree with where I got them from, and that's fine.

All the girlies in the Sputnik. You can't tell from this, but it's the best photo we got. All four are in it, Cassie and Edith must be half buried under Sybil and Millie who you can see here.

More photos.
Millie. <3

With Cassie's inexperience with climbing/jumping we realised she didn't know how to get out of the sputnik. So we ended up having to take it/her out and moving it so it's beside a ledge. Poor little girlie. Couldn't get a good photo of her cos she was so happy to be out she barely stopped for a moment.
Luckily the rest had left some nommy treats for her.
Also, edited most of these photos cos lighting in my room sucks and I wanted to make them look nicer.

Aha, yeah.
I got it from the rat rations website.
Though they had it in Pets At Home too in the bird toys section.

Thanks! Me too.
Pity Cassie was stuck up in the Sputnik and didn't get in the photo. I thought she wasn't coming down cos she was shy but ever since we helped her out she's actually quite curious about us, a lot more than her sister Millie.

FINALLY, a photo of them altogether. And also a photo of Cassie. She's the light one in the front. She's not albino, she's got light beige/cream like Edith... Though Edith's is darker. Easy to tell them apart though, Edith has slight dumbo'ish features compared to Cassie.
I'd shared a little bit of my dinner with them in a ramekin. They loved it.
Cassie and Millie. I was playing with the four of them with a paint brush, a bit of tug of war. They were going mad for it. Lol.
Cassie, Edith and Sybil. Dunno where Millie disappeared to.

Both of the pale girls are Champagne (probably hooded). And Edith *is* a Dumbo!

Thanks! I thought she was but some people had told me she wasn't. Sybil has very low set ears too, but they're not as big as Edith's. I find their ears so much more expressive than regular ratty ears. So cute!
Thanks for the clarification.

Sybil has made herself a little paper nest. All that was in their digging box, and she's taken it up to the third level of the cage and made herself her own little bed. Lol.

Well, just came back from 4 days away to the news that whilst I was away a certain little naughty dumbo Edith had escaped! Though the little woman is either directionally challenged or was trying to find a way back into the cage because she was found on top of it. Lol.
Luckily all was okay and there's now safety pins on the door to stop it happening again...there was a safety pin before but it was kinda big'ish though I assume my little sis put it in the wrong place as I'd told her not to do before. Though could of been really bad considering we have two cats and without me being here there wasn't someone sitting constantly in a place that means I can see whether or not a cat has gone into the room.
Lesson has been learned! Though my SRS has arrived anyways so they won't be in their old cage much longer now my dad and I are back.

Edith the little escape artist has mastered getting to the floor using my wheelchair as a climbing frame. She gradually went further and further until she was on the floor. Luckily the rest are still too nervous to do that.
They're in an SRS now (Can't remember if I said that already) and they're really enjoying it. As am I.
This is a really bad quality video of me at their cage door, letting them explore/the wheelchair. The lighting isn't very good, so there's bits that go black.

Then today I got up the courage to let them free range on my bed whilst I was by myself. I was pretty sure Edith would find a way on to the ground, but I'm more confident we'll be able to catch them if that happens.. even with the hiding places in my room. We did the other day when Edith got away from me.

I got Edith and Sybil out first to see how it went and filmed them a little, then my camera ran out of battery so I couldn't film all four of them out together. Was a bit hectic but luckily I was able to round them up myself with use of their carrier. Next time I'm gonna have treats ready and use positive reinforcement to try and train them a little to make getting them to come to me easier. Though it wasn't that hard this time, I imagine once they're more couragous they'll be less willing to go back into their cage. Maybe I'm wrong though.
