Blue has Breathing problems...
Today I came home from Work and said hello to my little fellows as I entered the room and all was fine...........
I came back in at 7 this evening to find Blue breathing rather awkwardly. He literally jumped onto my arm and started going crazy and walking like a drunk, so I nursed him for a while. I tried to feed him some pear and apple to perk him up a bit but he refused to eat and all he wanted to do was hide. I Put him back into his cage to see if he'd eat in there and he jumped back out onto my BF's arm and clung to him. All the while his breathing was very rapid and shallow, so I took him to the vet. This was his first time in the vet's and he was very good . The vet checked his breathing, his temperature and his abdomen for any lumps and he was put on Baytrill for the night as it may be an infection, but she is concerned that it may be a tumor rather than an infection. If his breathing does not improve over night, He will have to in for an x-ray and may have to be put on oxygen, as his tiny lungs are working very hard at the minute. I'm worried sick about my lil Blue guy as I love him to bits. Will keep yous up to date on his condition

Aw I hope he's ok, I've been going through something similar recently and I know how horrible it is! You did the right thing getting him to the vet asap. Hope he gets better soon xxx

Awh Rachel I'm so sorry to hear this. He's such a lovely lad! I hope it's just a minor infection and he's fighting fit soon. Big hugs and kisses to him.

Re: Blue has Breathing problems...
He was on oxygen for a couple of hours today and the vet gave him steroids and baytrill, but I think he's gone further downhill. In the last day or so he's gotten very frail looking and He won't eat which is seriously unlike him as he eats everything. I have them both here beside me as Blue is very clingy and I won't sleep until Blue's asleep, because he keeps wanting out of his cage again. I also noticed he's lying resting his chin on anything he can as if to keep the airway clear.

Poor boy. It's so sad when they get frail. Just keep doing what you're doing. Plenty of water or honey etc, anything he will eat really and as much attention as you can give.

Sounds like it could be heart failure not uncommon in older boys I'm sorry - I hope he does improve. ((((((hug))))))

Well I got him Baby food, Blueberries and Strawberries and he's eating well today. Seems to have perked him up a little bit. The Babyfood is brilliant for giving him his Baytrill. He's getting plenty of T.L.C

Just an update. Blue is doing very well. Looks like the oxygen, Steroids and Baytrill done the trick. He's eating well again and as lively as he ever was. Very happy and I owe it all to a good vet

Awh thanks x . Will keep a close eye on him though as he only has 10 days worth of Baytril. I'm worried when I run out he'll go back to the way he was.........

Excellent! Hope it's just a resp infection. If you run out and he goes back downhill, ask for more!

Will Do. He's made an excellent recovery. He was starting to look very sucked in and now he's filled out again and he's got his youthful looks back. So happy because I was convinced he was a gonner. His breathing is still a liuttle quicker that Gary's but compared to 2 weeks ago he's doing very well and has his appetite back.
Thanks so much for all the support
