R.I.P. Blue

Blue died last night, went downhill really quickly, Saturday he was fine and yesterday he just stopped eating and didn't leave his hammock. Went in to check up on him about 11 last night and he was gone . He had respiratory problems but after the oxygen, antibiotics and Steroids he was doing fine but he just couldn't hang on any longer. went in this morning and I miss his cheeky head peering through the bars waiting for attention and Now i'm worried about poor Gary being all alone. He was a really special little ratty, he used to turn the pages of the books i'd be reading on me and when I opened the door of the cage he was straight up my arm onto my shoulder. He was just the sweetest little guy and i'm just devistated......

Oh I'm sorry to hear this it sounds like he really had a lovely life,full of fun and love that's all any rattie could wish for xx Run Free handsome Blue xx

I'm so sorry he lived a long and happy life though, and was basically healthy - which is all a rat can ever ask for. Thank you for loving him so much <3

So sorry for your loss

Awh Laura thank you. He was such a little character, definitely one of a kind. At least when he was ill I took him to the vet in the nick of time and he was able to live out his last few weeks healthy and happy and very much spoilt rotten I only got him more Baytril on Thursday as advised but obviously it was beyond an infection and I think the vet was 100% right when she told me it was possible he may have had a tumor, But the idea of putting him under anaesthetic to grt x-ray'ed at his age was scary and I didn't want to risk it if they weren't going to operate on him

I'm so sorry Rizzo, I've lost two of my boys suddenly like that and it is very hard to deal with... you'll get through it though, just try to think of all the happy times you had together, and at least he had a great life and spent his last few weeks being spoiled! What more could a rat ask for? xx

Aw I'm so sorry to hear this Poor guy. You did your best by him though and it sounds like he lived out his last days in comfort and security and had a great life with you - in the end that's all we can ever give them *HUG*

He was an absolute stunner indeed. A fine example of a Bongo Fury rat , and an amazing temperament to match. Myself and gary are getting on o.k but I can tell he's really missing him at the same time as I am. I got him a little present yesterday evening

Bless him - it's so hard for them when they lose a cage mate at this age his hammock looks comfy though <3
