Hmm... not sure... perhaps ask on NFRS? Wonder if she's a bit of an infection? When I popped by last night I thought she looked a bit fluffy if that helps? So at least it's not just you seeing things and worrying, she did look a bit out of sorts to me, but I didn't get a chance to handle her or really check her out.

Hope she will be alright.

A swelling in the neck can be from a tumor, abscess, or a swollen lymph node. A swollen lymph node could be from a tumor as well, or from a virus. Other possibilities include a bite wound, bug bite, allergies, or complications caused by mycoplasma bacteria and can cause a myriad of problems when the rat is exposed to stress or secondary infections. I'm afraid the only way you're going to figure this out is to take her to a vet. I haven't seen this problem myself, personally....

My guess is that it's probably nothing, and may be an optical illusion caused by her being a bit fluffed up unless you've actually felt a discernible swelling? If you're worried though, the vet is the best call.

No there was swelling but its almost completely gone down now and her form is great.have the vet booked fr tomorrow anyway,if it was just an infection she's fighting off I presume antibs wouldn't be needed or would it b better to give anyway
