A Ratless Christmas Empty A Ratless Christmas

Post by Catz Thu Dec 27, 2012 4:14 am

Cai passed away on Christmas eve, she was the last living rat from my group of eleven and now the cage is empty. Sad

I feel so hollow knowing there will be no more ratty cuddles, no little noses poking through the bars to greet me in the morning and no more smiles as they enjoy a special treat or explore a new toy.

I usually spend all evening making up mixes, creating toys, making beds and trawling the net for new ideas.. what will I do now? Who will I read to at night? It feels like half my family is missing Cry

Socrates, Sheldon, Loki, Newton, Sol, Riloh, Di Vinci, Eli, Pip, Squeek and Cai are finally together again at the rainbow bridge. I hope you are safe and happy my little ones and know that I love you all more then I can express. Take care of one another, try to stay out of trouble and don't forget about me. Sad

Happy Christmas rat pack.. you will always be in my heart Love

I don't know yet, Dave said he wants to take a break for a while and I agreed but everything in me wants to run out and bring a few new rattys home. The cage is so quiet, it doesn't feel right. Is a house ever really a home without rats? Sad

its a very personal decision, you can never replace those ratties that have passed on and it does leave a mark when they go but for me,i always think its only that heartbreaking because they were so great and i couldnt be without them- i can understand needing a break from the heartache,I think its something we all think about at times but id find it more heartbreaking not to have any ratties in my life- we've lost three in the last two weeks and all thats got me through is coming home to the resto of my girls-but we all have to find what works for us x
