introducing my rats to each other
Tomorrow will be our great day
Speedy and Rosalina, my old rats, will meet Harriet and Veronica, my new rats, for the first time face to face.
I am so very exited. I will let them meet on our couch table, where none of them has ever been before. I am not a fan of doing it in the bath tub, as its such a cold environment and might scare them.
If everything goes well I will post a picture of 4 ratties together tomorrow <3
Does anyone have any last minute tips? How did your rats like to be introduced? How often did you do those "playdates" before you placed them in one cage? I am planning to do it a few times a day tomorrow and Thursday and place them together on Friday, if they like each other, do you think that's to early? Well I guess it depends on how they get along of course, so we might know more tomorrow
Cheers!

Re: introducing my rats to each other
It usually takes a fair length of time, but I think your older girls will probably be quite quiet and submit to the younger ones quite easily. Hopefully it will be quick and they'll all be friends very soon!
I usually advise when you do finally put them in a cage together, make sure there are no hammocks, houses, tubes, anything they can hide in, because they often 'protect' them, and will fight much worse.
Best of luck!
xx

All went well!
Success!^^
Their first meeting was much better than I expected :)There was no fighting at all. Rosalina ans Speedy were very quiet indeed and none of them was frightend or uncomfortable. I will place them together as soon as I can, Rosalina is in surgery at this very moment, as I dicovered a little tumor *fingers crossed*
Here is a pic of Speedy and Vroni:

I am so happy they seem to get along! Thanks for the advice with the cage, I will remember that!

Re: introducing my rats to each other
Thank you! Rosalina is doing fine so far. I just need to watch her all the time, because she is trying to get the stiches out
As the other girls were so friendly in their meetings I have already placed them together in a completly cleaned cage, and they still dont fight and seem to be happy together Yay! ^^

That's so true, I hope your girl's wound will now heal without any further problems!
I have to work today, i already rushed home in my lunch break to see how she is doing, but thankfully she is still okay and did not open her wound, I hope she will continue to be a good girl!

Re: introducing my rats to each other
All my Rats are now happy in one cage together \o/
Rosalina recovered very good and she was accepted as a cage mate from the start. Yay!
Such good girls alltogether. I expected it to be a little harder to intruduce them.
I guess I was very lucky
